Course Description

This is an introductory course in information security which presents the students with an overview of the fundamental principles, the security problems, the technical aspects of security, risk analysis, and policies.  Topics include basic concepts, cryptography, authentication, access control, network security, software security, security policies, assurance and trust, information flow, vulnerabilities analysis, incident response, and legal and ethical issues.

Course Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Define the critical characteristics of information
  2. Distinguish between threats and vulnerabilities
  3. Understand Encryption standards
  4. Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Signature and authentication techniques.
  5. Define and identify various types of attack
  6. Understand the importance of program security
  7. Understand the importance of network security 
  8. Perform risk analysis and develop a security plan
  9. Implement security policy
  10. Understand Cross-Site Scripting Attack
  11. Understand SQL Injection Attack.
  12. Understand challenges in integrating AI in cybersecurity
  13. Throughout the course, we will focus on communication, collaborating in a group, and leadership skills.
